We recently held another sample collection event for G4PL – Genomics for Poland. This time, we met participants at the “Science with a Palace Backdrop” festival in Jabłonna on 19–20 September 2026. The team from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, working with the biobank OPEN (Centre for Cancer Prevention and Epidemiology), collected a total of 216 samples.
Blood samples were collected in the unique setting of Jabłonna Palace, in the beautiful interiors of the Chinese Drawing Room and the Polish Drawing Room. These historic rooms became a space where festival participants could contribute to contemporary genomic research. Attending an event celebrating science was also an opportunity to help advance it.
The collected samples will support research into the genetic diversity of Poland’s population. This is one of the aims of the G4PL project, which is building a genomic database to advance research, diagnostics and precision medicine.
We thank everyone who donated a sample for taking part in the project. We also extend our thanks to the OPEN team and the event’s hosts for their support in organising the collection. We return from Jabłonna with 216 samples, having taken another step together towards understanding the genomes of people living in Poland!
The Genomics for Poland (G4PL) project is co-funded by the European Union under the European Funds for Smart Economy programme.
