On 22 May 2026, we signed our first cooperation agreement with a partner specialising in the collection of biological material. This partner is Poznań-based Biobank OPEN – a company belonging to the Alina Pieńkowska Centre for Cancer Prevention and Epidemiology, located on Kazimierza Wielkiego Street in Poznań, with experience in collecting and storing biological material for scientific and research and development projects.
Over the last two weekends in May, with the help of medical laboratory staff from OPEN Biobank, we are starting to collect blood samples from which DNA will then be isolated for sequencing. When and where can you donate a sample?
📅 23 May (Saturday) – Turwia Palace, from 12:00 to 15:00, during the ‘DNA – the molecule of life’ workshop as part of the ‘Picnic at the General’s – the Greater Poland work ethic’ event;
📅 30 May (Saturday) – Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, 17/19 H. Wieniawskiego Street, from 10:00 to 14:00, during a workshop organised by the Centre for Innovation and Social Education (CIES) at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences.
Please note! The number of samples collected is limited. As a rule, we do not accept samples from relatives (with the exception of families affected by rare diseases). If you are unable to provide a sample at the events listed above, or if you are unsure whether you are eligible, please express your interest in taking part in the project by sending an email to: g4pl@ibch.poznan.pl
